Plano
Updated: 5 days ago
Plano has come a long way from the quiet residential town I remember visiting as a kid. Plano has major employers and a large dining and shopping scene. With major employers like Toyota, JPMorgan Chase, and AT&T investing heavily in the area—including AT&T's planned $1.3 billion corporate campus at the former EDS headquarters site—Plano offers the kind of career opportunity that attracts corporate transferees while still maintaining the established neighborhoods, mature trees, sidewalks, and suburban feel that appeal to move-up buyers. Its dining and entertainment scene has grown just as dramatically, with destinations like Legacy West and Legacy Hall giving residents plenty of options for dining, shopping, and nightlife without having to drive into Dallas. As of August 2026, Plano's market has also cooled from its peak, with Zillow's typical home value around $500,000, down roughly 4% year over year, while Redfin reports a year-to-date median sale price of about $535,000, approximately 21 days on market, and a 98.5% sold-to-list ratio—giving buyers more room to negotiate than they had in 2021 and 2022. Plano has established amenities and major employment centers in a suburban setting. Confirm school zoning for each property.
